In case you missed the first of the series, I’ve decided to sift through my samples to bring you some mini reviews.

I received this sample tube to try a couple of months ago as I suffer from dry patches of skin. Described as a ‘skin drink’, this sounded perfect for my parched skin, apart from the oils involved in the ingredients:
Water (Aqua Purificata) Purified, Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum), Sesame (Sesamum Indicum) Oil, Propylene Glycol, Tea Stearate, Gylceryl Stearate, Lanolin Alcohol, Petrolatum, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.
The ingredients list would admittedly put me off using this for too long, with mineral oils, alcohol and parabens left right and centre. I thought I’d give it a go for a couple of weeks and see if it alleviated my dryness anyway.
While it did absorb well into my skin, I think I’m too sensitive for this product in the long run. Being able to really feel my moisturiser sitting on my skin makes me uneasy – it’s almost as if there’s too much product. After a couple of weeks my pores felt quite clogged and I think it was doing more harm than good, to be honest.
That said, I did lose my moisturiser while travelling last month and ended up buying the oil-free gel version for oily/combination skin types, which I got on with much better and would recommend it to younger skins.

I received this with a purchase from one of my favourite cosmetics sites, Cult Beauty. Elle Macpherson and Nicole Kidman are said to be fans of the product, and they have great skin! For my part, I personally love anything that cuts down my routine, so a ‘high performance’ moisturiser with the bonus of a decent SPF is ideal. The product is also mineral- and anti-oxidant-based, so it sounded suitable for my sensitive skin.
Ingredients:
Aqua, Zinc Oxide, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Isostearyl Neopentanoate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, PEG-20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Xanthan Gum, Diazolidinyl Urea, Benzyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Citrus Medico Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Fumaria Officinalis Extract, Fumaric Acid, Disodium EDTA, Tocopheryl Acetate.

Unfortunately, that was where the love affair ended. It’s difficult to find a high SPF that doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, and this product is no exception. It felt very tacky once applied, and I had to wait a good couple of minutes for it to absorb before I was able to consider applying make-up.
However, before I was able to do so I had to add a layer of my daily moisturiser. The Invisible Zinc’s ‘high performing’ powers were just not up to scratch I’m afraid – thus cutting down my daily routine by precisely nil!
A bit of a disappointing sequel to The Foundations, I’m afraid! Have you tried either of these products with better results?
